Two of SL's education leaders are resigning

Thursday, April 12, 2001

The Storm Lake School District is searching for two assistant principals after Cotton Koch and Jim Kobus submitted their resignations this week to the Storm Lake School Board.

Koch, the assistant principal at the middle school, accepted a similar position in the West Des Moines Public School District. High school assistant principal Kobus has verbally accepted a high school principal position in the Lisbon Community School District.

Both of the resigning assistant principals expressed fondness for the Storm Lake School District, but cited the need for personnel and professional growth.

Kobus called his three years in the district "a tremendous learning experience."

"I am and will always remain loyal to the fine efforts demonstrated by Iowa's most exciting and progressive school district," Kobus said in his resignation letter. "And, I hope that in some small way, I was able to make a contribution toward these efforts."

Koch said he will miss the administrators and faculty he has worked with over the last four years in Storm Lake. But he said he will miss the students the most.
