Local talent joins in Music Festival

The 12th annual Cherokee Music Festival is again scheduled for Father's Day Weekend, June 16-18, at the Cherokee County Fairgrounds.

The popular event annually features a selection of country, bluegrass, old-time, and gospel music by area musicians.

Gates open at 10 a.m. Friday, June 16, and close at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 18. a food stand will be on the grounds. A Saturday food special will be hot beef sandwiches for $4.

Besides jam sessions during the day, there will be a Band Scramble at 7:30 p.m. Friday on the open stage, with sign-up due by 5 p.m.

There will be open stage jams on Saturday, culminating in a Variety Show at 7 p.m., sign- up by 5 p.m.

On Sunday there will be a Gospel Show at 9:30 a.m., with a potluck to follow.

Anyone interested in participating in the Variety Show should contact Merlyn Hansen at 375-5384.

Gate admission is $5 per day, or $12 for the weekend. Children under age 12 are admitted free with parents. No alcohol is allowed on the site.
