Guns and Roses is booked for Storm Lake.
Nope, not the defunct rock group Guns 'n Roses, but Guns and Roses, the new Storm Lake Chamber of Commerce program.
In the past, the chamber has sponsored a Red Hat Ladies program, but this year is expanding on the theme with Guns and Roses on October 28, a full-day tourism event for women meant to coincide with the opening of pheasant hunting season.
That's where the "guns" come in - while men are off hunting the rich pheasant population of Buena Vista County, the chamber hopes to attract their wives to its event. And the Roses? Organizers plan to send each participant home with a rose.
Those who would like to attend can sign up now with the chamber office.
The day will include a "Shop 'Til You Drop" promotion, in-store demonstrations, a style show, luncheon, gourmet cooking seminar that will hopefully include some wild game such as pheasant and quail, and gift bags from area merchants for all participants.
A Guns and Roses committee is meeting this week to firm up the details.
Everyone is invited, except perhaps that '80s band...
