'Decoding the DaVinci Code' events at Summit Church

Monday, May 22, 2006

Want to separate fact, fiction, and faith? Summit Church invites the public to seek the truth in a new sermon series designed to "Decode the DaVinci Code," at Summit Church in Alta, on Sunday May 21, May 28, and June 4 at 8:30 and 11 a.m.

"The DaVinci Code" book by Dan Brown made the best-seller list in 2004, and now the newly released movie thriller, starring Tom Hanks and directed by Ron Howard, aims to repeat its impact at theatres. But the entertaining book and movie both contain scores of distortions and deceptions, according to Summit church leaders - raising many questions about faith, religion, and history.

In the new sermon series, Senior Pastor Doug Corlew, plans to present the facts about the Bible, Jesus, faith, and church history, as well as where to find helpful resources with additional information.

"Many reviewers say it's a riveting book and a thrilling movie - but it's all based on fiction rather than fact," says Corlew. "The truth is even more compelling and fascinating than the fiction!"

Also, starting June 4 at 9:45 a.m., Summit Church will offer a new Adult Bible Fellowship class focusing on the DaVinci Code. This summer series will go deeper into the questions raised by the book and film.

For more information, call the church at 200-2200.
