STORM LAKE -Amy Brown, the daughter of Ron and Deb Brown of Storm Lake, was a letterwinner on the Buena Vista University women's swimming and diving team this past season.
The Buena Vista men's and women's swimming and diving teams finished their seasons with a record year for coach Deb Blanchard.
The Beavers set 16 new school records. They began the season by breaking records and re-broke many of them throughout the season.
The small but competitive teams finished strong at the season ending Liberal Arts Invitational held at Coe College in Cedar Rapids in February. The women's squad finished eighth and the men's team placed ninth overall in one of their most successful outings of the season in a very competitive field. Buena Vista set 14 records at the three-day meet.
"I thought we had a good chance at breaking some records this season," Blanchard said. "Our team steadily improved throughout the season and to finish it the way we did was tremendous for this young squad. We surprised some teams this season and we look forward to next year with our added depth."
Blanchard finished her 10th season as the Beavers' head swimming and diving coach. Blanchard's squads currently hold over 25 of the current swimming and diving records at BVU.
