An "obnoxious song" challenge and pancake breakfast are among the activities planned for Storm Lake High School's Sundanese Awareness Week and Fundraiser.
The SLHS Student Council and Key Club are promoting the event to raise between $1,500 and $2,000 to provide medical supplies and medicine to the region of Sudan where several students still have family members and friends suffering the effects of civil and religious wars.
Fundraising will include an "obnoxious song" challenge that will entail playing the worst songs students can think of between periods until $700 is raised. Money each day will be collected in SSR homeroom by the supervisor and turned in right away. The homeroom that collects the most money will receive a breakfast pizza and juice during a homeroom in the first week of may.
A pancake breakfast is also scheduled from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday with the assistance of the Kiwanis Beavers in the SLHS cafeteria. Tickets are $4 for sdults and $3 for children. Key Club members and other interested students will pre-sell tickets prior to Saturday.
