The Cherokee Rodeo is the largest professional rodeo in Northwest Iowa. Rodeo fans return each year for the three performances that offer top professional rodeo competitions, specialty acts and excellent rodeo stock raised on the local Rafter B Bar ranch by the Barnes family, rodeo hall of famers in their own right.
As in the past, this year's 35th rodeo will have three performances. Friday, June 1 and Saturday's performance will be held at 8 p.m. and Sunday, June 3 at 2 p.m.
Each performance will feature six events, including bare back riding, saddle bronc riding, bull riding, women's barrel racing, calf roping and steer wrestling. Professional cowboys and cowgirls from various locations throughout the United States will enter to compete in the Cherokee Rodeo. Last year's list of competitors included PRCA world champion cowboys in several events and many others who competed in the recently finished National Finals Rodeo (NFR) held in Las Vegas, Nev.
