CommUNITY Education is accepting nominations for its 7 annual "Senior Volunteer of the Year" award. This award is presented to a community volunteer over the age of 55 years who has shown outstanding commitment and dedication as a volunteer in the Storm Lake area.
To nominate someone deserving of this honor, submit a letter of nomination to CommUNITY Education office, 419 Lake Ave., by Monday, May 15.
Nominees should have a longstanding record of contributions in any one or multiple areas of volunteerism. Letters must include the nominee's name and reasons why he/she ought to be considered for the award. Please note specific volunteer contributions.
The award winner will be announced and presented during lunch at CommUNITY Ed's annual Prime Time event, scheduled for Thursday, June 8 at the Storm Lake Middle School.
Past Senior of the Year honorees include Erv Grundmeier, Ellis Francis, John Dvergsten, Roy Clough, Ruth Thornton and Lorraine Peterson.
Further details about the Prime Time event will be forthcoming. Educational and entertaining breakout sessions will be scheduled throughout the morning, followed by a luncheon program and musical entertainment.
