LeMars trips SL girls netters

The Storm Lake High girls tennis team won two singles matches and one doubles match here Tuesday, but fell short in a 6-3 loss to LeMars.

Winners in singles for SLHS were Douan Banhleuxai, who edged Sara Oetken 11-9, and Phoung Sihakhune, who beat LeMars' Kelsey Schilmoeller, 10-6.

In other singles matches, SL's No. 1 player, Chandaeng Senaphan lost 10-3 to senior Kelsey Bauerly. In a matchup of No. 3's, Emily Driggs of LeMars topped Phonmany Siharath 10-4.

Also, SL's Janny Maloutaphong lost to Amelia Stonesifer 10-4 and LeMars junior Hana Fischer beat SL's Bee Phommasene, 3-10.

The Tornadoes' No. 1 doubles team of Senaphan and Siharath edged Bauerly and Oetken, 11-9. In the second doubles match, Driggs and Schilmoeller toppled Banhleuxai and Sihakhune 10-7, while in the doubles finale, LeMars' Stonesifer and Fischer got past Maloutaphong and Phommasene 10-3.

With the loss, the Tornado girls dropped to 1-3 overall and in Lakes Conference matches.
