House passes an E-85 ethanol bill

Thursday, March 30, 2006

Ethanol and biodiesel fuels would have to make up 25 percent of all fuel sold in the state within 20 years under legislation approved by the House on Tuesday.

The state would also have to spend $2 million a year to expand availability of a blend of gasoline that contains 85 percent ethanol.

Before approving the measure, the House rejected an effort to require that all fuel in the state contain 10 percent ethanol.
