BV softball team sweeps BYU-Hawaii

The Buena Vista University softball team concluded its spring break trip by sweeping Brigham Young University-Hawaii. The Beavers defeated the Seasiders 3-0 and 2-1.

Brandi Sykora pitched a complete-game shutout to give Buena Vista a 3-0 victory in the first game. She scattered seven hits over seven innings while striking out three batters.

Tracy Benge led the Buena Vista hitting attack by going 3-four-4 at the plate. She scored one run and drove in another.

Amanda Armstrong scored the game-winning run in game two in the top of the seventh inning off of a Kelsey Ripperger single. Ripperger had two of the team's five hits in the game.

Liz Dornfeld pitched 3 1/3 innings of scoreless relief to pick up the victory, the first of her collegiate career.

Buena Vista is now 4-6 on the year.
