CHEROKEE - Shane Maier remained undefeated in the shot put and three other events placed first to highlight Storm Lake's performance in the Cherokee quadrangular track and field meet Tuesday night.
No team points were kept in the meet, which also included Cherokee, Sioux City North and LeMars.
Maier, a sophomore, threw the shot put 53 feet, 11 inches. Tyler Youde matched his personal best by leaping 5-8 to win the high jump.
Tim Brink captured the 3,200 meters run with a time of 10 minutes, 57.6 seconds, while Justin Koeppe claimed the 400 meter low hurdles in 57.84.
Finishing second for the Tornadoes were Scott Ellens in the high jump at 5-6, Koeppe in the 200 meters in 23.79 seconds, Chuck Stark in the 1,500 meters in a time of 5:12.67, the mile medley relay in 4:06.23 and the 4x400 relay in 3:44.93.
Placing third were Rory Fulcher in the long jump in 18-8 1/2, Mike Keller in the high jump in 5-6 and the 400 meters in 55.16 seconds, Brandon Ebersole in the 3,200 meters in a time of 11:13.50, Jeff DeHaan in the 110 meter high hurdles with a clocking of 15.31 seconds, Youde in the 800 meters in 2:16.16 and the 4x100 relay in 45.24 seconds.
Maier captured fourth place in the discus in 129-6, as did Fulcher in the 100 meters in 11.46 seconds and the 400 in 55.97 seconds. The 4x400 relay team finished fourth in 3:54.98.
Justin Hocking finished fifth in the shot put in 41-7, as did Chad Hotovec in the discus in 127-10. Ellens was fifth in the 110 high hurdles in 16.17 seconds and fifth in the 400 hurdles in 1:00.06.
Placing sixth were DeHaan in the long jump, Tyler Radke in the 110 hurdles, Mike Miller in the 100 meters, Arturo Menchaca in the 1,500 meters and Ryan Brock in the 400 hurdles.
