The Storm Lake AmeriHost Inn is pleased to announce the third annual Teacher of the Year award, an essay contest for grade, middle and high school students to nominate their favorite teacher.
The contest will begin April 6 and conclude on May 1.
Students are encouraged to submit an essay explaining why their teacher should be honored as the AmeriHost Inn Teacher of the Year.
The essays will be read and evaluated by AmeriHost Inn general manager, Sharon Eddy, regional director of operations, J. Mykel Hill and other judges.
The essays will be evaluated based on the portrayal of the teacher by the student. AmeriHost Inn is looking for how teachers impact students through the student's eyes.
The winning teacher will receive a complimentary one night's stay in a whirlpool suite at the AmeriHost Inn in Storm Lake, dinner for two at a local restaurant, an apple award and a framed copy of the essay for their dedication to students and education in area schools.
The author of the winning essay will receive a $50.00 savings bond and a one night's stay at the AmeriHost Inn Storm Lake in appreciation of their hard work.
Students of area grade, middle and high schools are encouraged to nominate their favorite teacher by writing an essay.
The nomination forms are available at the schools and the AmeriHost Inn. Nominations must be returned to the AmeriHost Inn, 1726 Lake Avenue, Storm Lake, Iowa 50588, by May 1.
