County will back SLADC sharing, but wants its share of the development

Storm Lake Area Development Corporation has the blessings of both the Storm Lake City Council and the Buena Vista County Board of Supervisors to proceed with a reorganization.

Executive board members of SLADC have met with the two bodies this week, seeking approval to begin a plan that calls for the sharing of a director, staff and facilities between SLADC and the Storm Lake Chamber of Commerce.

Both city and county elected officials said they were excited about the possibilities with such a combined organization. County supervisors, however, did express concern over the possibility that the interests of the county and outlying communities could be missed.

Steve Brashears, president of the SLADC executive board, assured the supervisors in a meeting Tuesday that they have taken those concerns into consideration. The executive board has met with representatives of other communities in the county that belong to SLADC, he said.
