The music department at Buena Vista University hosted high school choirs from across Iowa last Friday.
Each choral group performed separately in Schaller Chapel with clinician Dr. William Wyman from Nebraska Wesleyan University. The 200-voice group rehearsed with Paula Keeler, choral director from BVU in Edson Hall on the BVU campus. Individual sessions were led by area instructors on IPA Phonetics and theory.
The finale concert included a shortened program by the eight individual choirs and the combined group performed Z. Randall Stroope's "Cantate Domino" and Dale Grotenhuis's "Song of Triumph." Glee Crippin, adjunct instructor in voice presented the winning performance award and participation plaques to the schools.
Attending this year's festival were three choirs from Valley High School in West Des Moines and choirs from Fort Dodge High School, Sioux Center High School and Van Meter High School.
