Brushes are busy as the Storm Lake Porcelain Artists prepare for their Sixth Annual Egg Sale and Display at the Witter Gallery April 1 from 9 a.m. to noon. Over 100 hand-painted eggs are being painstakingly painted and signed by each artist.
The 2006 theme is, "Old Fashioned Tea" and will be reflected with many hand-painted antique-style porcelain shoes used for table decorations. Some will also be sold.
Refreshments will be served all morning and a painted egg will be given for a door prize every half hour.
At noon, drawings will be held for a hand-painted bowl by Storm Lake's Marilyn Mittelstadt and a cup and saucer complete with a flower arrangement by Arlene Blair, Rockwell City.
As always the proceeds become part of the educational fund to be used for seminars conducted by instructors from various areas who teach new subjects and techniques.
In late April the club will participate in the Annual Iowa World Organization of China Painters Show and Convention in Cedar Rapids. The group usually meets on the first Monday of the month in the lower level of Lakeside Presbyterian Church. New members are welcome.
Officers include president, Martha Christensen; vice-president Eleanor Brink; secretary Lunetta Koskovich, Storm Lake; and treasurer Della Wolf, Cherokee.
Egg sale chairmen are Arlene Blair and Velma Blake.
Everyone is welcome!
