INDIANOLA - Ryan Young clubbed a three-run homer in the first game, and Nick Beard and Scott Going each hit a round-tripper in the nightcap to help power Buena Vista to a doubleheader sweep in Iowa Conference play Saturday in Indianola.
Buena Vista won the opener 5-4 and the nightcap 8-4.
Buena Vista scored three runs in the first inning of the opener. Beard and Justin McAtee both drew walks before Young hit a homer.
Cory Kennedy delivered an RBI double in the second inning. The Beavers had six hits in the game, including a double by Evan Grieme.
Paul Bloyer and Luke Franzenberg combined to pitch a three-hitter. Bloyer allowed two runs and one hit, walked four and struck out one over four innings. Franzenberg gave up two hits and two runs while striking out three in three innings of relief.
Beard clubbed a three-run homer in the first inning of the nightcap, scoring Quinn Hildman and Dan Nuehring. Hildman tripled and Nuehring walked.
The Beavers plated four more runs in the third inning. Going smacked a two-run homer and McAtee drove in a run with a fielder's choice.
Beard drove in his fourth run of the game in the sixth with a sacrifice fly.
The Beavers totaled seven hits in the game, including two apiece by Hildman and Beard.
Eric Hoffman pitched five innings, allowing five hits and two runs while walking three and striking out four. Chris Carlton pitched in relief.
