Funeral services for Dorothy Schoning, 75, of Battle Creek, will be held at 1 p.m. today, April 3, 2001, at First Presbyterian Church in Battle Creek, with Dr. Herbert K. Johnson officiating.
Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery in Battle Creek. Friends may call at the church today from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Christensen-Huffman Funeral Homes is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Schoning passed away Saturday, March 31, 2001, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.
Dorothy Mae, the daughter of Jake and Winnie (Wimberly) Konradi, was born Feb. 24, 1926, in Schaller. As a child, she moved to Battle Creek with her family and attended Battle Creek School.
On Feb. 28, 1946, she married Gerald Schoning in Ida Grove. The couple made their home in Battle Creek, where she was a mother, homemaker and worked odd jobs. Due to poor health, for the past three years she made her home with her daughter, Jodean Dutcher and family, in Ida Grove.
Mrs. Schoning enjoyed cooking and playing bingo. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother and grandmother who loved her family dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Earl and Floyd Konradi.
Mrs. Schoning is survived by her husband Gerald; three daughters: Pat Jensen of Garretson, S.D., Jodean and her husband Don Dutcher of Ida Grove and Jan Gordon of Battle Creek; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters: Helen Ellis of Minneapolis, Minn., Dorine Oehler and June and Glen Rice, all of Storm Lake; two brothers: Clyde Konradi and Bob and his wife Val Konradi, all of Storm Lake.
