DOT seeks sponsor agencies for 2001 Urban Youth Corps

Tuesday, April 3, 2001

The Iowa Department of Transportation is seeking nonprofit private and public agencies to submit proposals to participate in the 2001 Urban Youth Corps program.

The program objectives are to provide transportation-related work projects and training opportunities to youth between the ages of 16-21 who face barriers to employment and to accomplish meaningful and productive improvements to transportation facilities.

Each participating agency is required to provide 50 percent of the total project costs as the local match. The projects will be funded for all or part of a five-month period beginning May 1 and ending Sept. 30, 2001. The requests for proposal application forms are available from Darla Best, Iowa DOT, 800 Lincoln Way, Ames, Iowa 50010, 515-239-1464. General information about the program is also available from Bob Rye at 515-237-3304.
