Marathon begins second decade

The Eleventh Annual Marathon to Marathon has been scheduled for Saturday, June 17th. This marathon is runner friendly, certified and sanctioned. The 26.2 mile marathon and marathon relay begin at 6 a.m. at the Storm Lake High School in Storm Lake. There is a Half-Marathon which will begin at 7 a.m. At 8 a.m. the 5K run/walk begins at the Marathon Community Center in Marathon and at 8:30 a.m. the tot trot will begin.

The Marathon is open to men and women in following age brackets: 19 and under; 20 - 29; 30 - 39; 40 - 49; 50 - 59; and 60 and over. Medallions will be awarded to everyone who finishes the race and trophies will go to overall winners in both men's and women's divisions. There is a $45.00 fee for entering the Marathon. which increases to $55.00 after June 7th. The Half-Marathon fee is $25.00 or $30.00 after June 7th.

The Marathon Relay is open to teams of five runners and includes men's, women's, and co-ed divisions. Awards are given to first, second and third place teams in each division. The fee for entering this race is $80.00 per team and increases to $100.00 after June 7th. The 5K run/walk is open to both men and women in the following age brackets: 13 and under; 14 - 19; 20 - 29; 30 - 39; 40 - 49; 50 - 59; and 60 and over. Awards are given to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers in each division. There is a $15.00 fee for early registration which increases to $20.00 after June 7th.

Aid stations will be available every 2.5 miles with water, other beverages and some will have fresh fruit. There will be a shuttle service to Storm Lake. Post-race refreshments and shower facilities will be available at the Marathon Community Center. T-shirts will be given to all participants.

Any late registrations will not be guaranteed a t-shirt on the day of the race.

A Pasta Party will be held the night before the race. It is scheduled for Friday, June 16th, from 5:30 - 8 p.m. at the Storm Lake High School. Race packets may be picked up at that time or prior to the race on Saturday from 4:30 to 5:30 am.

8 - 5K run/walk begins

8:30 - Tot Trot begins

9:45 - Awards ceremony for 5K run/walk

11 - Awards ceremony for Marathon, Half-Marathon and Marathon Relay

Food vendors and Entertainment will be available throughout the event.
