Aurelia School Board OKs summer projects

Monday, February 20, 2006

The Aurelia School Board approved several summer projects at its regular meeting Monday at a tune of approximately $83,000. Two other projects, with no price tags set on them at this time, are expected to be approved.

About 40 feet of flashing on the shop/gymnasium was approved, at an approximate cost of $44,000.

The water line to the 1920 building will be replaced at an estimated cost of $25,000. The students will have new playground equipment; the board approved spending up to $7,500. Input from the teachers will be asked for before any purchases are made.

Padding will be installed on the stage at a cost of $4,000 and a new set of bleachers will be installed at the softball field at an estimated cost of $2,500.

The board tabled the replacement of the flooring in the lunch room while additional bids are gathered.

The board is also in the early discussion stages of possibly constructing a new weight room. Local contractor Rob Kannegieter presented drawings that he and football coach Myron Radke had developed. The board agreed more discussion is needed on what type of facility they want and will then ask for bids.
