Mediacom offers $50,000 in scholarships

Mediacom Communications is offering $50,000 in scholarship support for high school students who are seniors and plan to obtain further education. For the fifth consecutive year, as many as 50 high school seniors will be awarded Mediacom World Class Scholarships, worth $1,000 each.

Mediacom scholarships are available to students who live in the five states where the broadband communications company conducts business - Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Since 2002, 126 Iowa students have received the $1,000 scholarships. Recipients may use the financial awards to support education and training they plan to obtain from any accredited post-secondary institution in the fall of 2006.

Applications for the Mediacom World Class Scholarship Program have been mailed to area high schools. The deadline for submitting completed applications is March 15.

All completed scholarship applications must include a brief essay on leadership, the applicant's school transcript, and two letters of recommendation. Completed applications should be sent on or before March 15 to the same address listed above.
