The Buena Vista University men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed in the Hilltop Open hosted by Cornell College here Saturday.
The women were the team champions out of a field of 11 teams, winning with a total of 118 points. The men were second out of 11 squads with 96 points.
The Buena Vista women were led by sprinter KeAnna Martin who won two events and ran in the champion 4 x 400 relay (4:13). Martin crossed the wire first in the 55 meter dash (7.53) and in the 200 meter dash (26.90). Karyn Forke placed second in the 55 meter dash (7.60) behind Martin.
Missy Reinhart was the other Beaver champion, placing first in the 400 meter dash (62.71).
She also leaped to a second-place finish in the long jump (15-10.5). The Buena Vista hurdling squad proved themselves once more, claiming the second through fifth places in the finals. Natalie Olorundami led the hurdlers by placing second (8.76).
The Buena Vista men had a strong showing in the 200 meter dash, as the sprinters captured five of the top eight places.
Justin Bauer raced to a second place finish (22.97). The 4x400 relay team got nosed out at the wire and placed second (3:29).
In the 55 meter hurdles, Shawn Olorundami placed third (8.12) and Justin Taylor was a close fourth (8.15). Also putting in a strong performance was third-place Josh Saba in the 1000 meter run (2:41).
After performing strongly in their second indoor meet of the season, the men's and women's teams will return to Storm Lake on Feb. Saturday 11 for the Dennis Young Classic. The competition starts at 11 a.m. at the Lamberti Recreation Center.
