Boat fatality trial at anchor

Tuesday, January 24, 2006

The trial of a man changed in a deadly boating accident on West Lake Okoboji last summer has been delayed.

Justin Nearman, 29, of Sioux Falls, S.D., is accused of driving a boat that hit the back of another boat in August, killing a Perry man and injuring the man's wife.

His trial, which had been set for Feb. 7 in Dickinson County District Court, has been postponed. No new date was set, according to court records.

Nearman is accused of being drunk while driving the boat.

If convicted, Nearman could face up to 30 years in prison.
