Board of Supervisors votes to join Corridor
The Buena Vista County Board of Supervisors has agreed to indicate its intent to join the Iowa Great Lakes Corridor of Opportunity.
Board Chair Bill Lanphere said the Corridor was applying for a state grant and had asked about Buena Vista County's intentions to join the economic development organization. The group, which included Dickinson and Clay Counties at its founding in 1992, added Emmet County to its membership last November. Adding a fourth county, or indicating that the group would soon be comprised of four counties, would aid the group in a grant application, Lanphere said.
Buena Vista County has already budgeted $20,000 for Corridor membership in its next 2006-07 fiscal year budget.
"I think we should join them because we would get better representation," said Supervisor Jim Gustafson.
The Board agreed to notify the Corridor of intent to commit to a three-year membership with the group.
