Right thing to do
The Buena Vista County Board of Supervisors Wednesday afternoon approved a resolution withdrawing the county from the Buena Vista County Communications Commission.
The county, which pays 100 percent of the cost of the Communications Center, will continue to operate the center now housed in the Courthouse basement before relocating it to the new jail.
Currently, the Commission is comprised of representatives of the county and municipalities throughout the county.
The county's withdrawal from the Commission will be effective June 30.
"It's the right thing to do," said Supervisor Jim Gustafson after the Board approved the resolution. "And it's time to move on. The county paid the whole bill out of the general fund of the county."
Gustafson said the Communications Center will take up a 58-by-25 area in the new jail and will include a dispatching, office, and storage area. The jail control center will be a separate facility.
