Blues Travels

Tuesday, January 10, 2006

Consider it an education. Blues 101.

On Friday, January 13, the Raccoon River Blues Boys band will be playing Anderson Auditorium on the campus of Buena Vista University as part of the ACES cultural education program. The show is open to the public, 7-8:30 p.m.

The Raccoon River Blues Boys is an acoustic blues duo featuring Dennis Kain and Tom Gary, two Iowa performers who have been vital off-stage in bringing vitality to Iowa's blues history and emerging reputation for blues performance.

Kain has been a featured performer for many years for the Central Iowa Blues Society. Gary is the founder of the Iowa Blues Hall of Fame, the Central Iowa Blues Society, and a published historian of the blues.

The duo performs music of the delta, early urban blues, and jump blues of the 1950s.
