VERMILLION, S.D. - Amy Wulfekuhler finished second in the long jump to highlight Storm Lake's performance in the Midwest High School Championships on Saturday.
Wulfekuhler leaped 16 feet, 11 inches to finish second. She actually tied for first place, but was unable to take her last two jumps due to an injury.
Paige Havens finished seventh in the 400 meters with a time of 1 minute, 5.15 seconds. Freshman Molly Daniels placed 14th in the 55 meters in a clocking of 7.6 seconds. Jill Parman finished in 7.70 seconds and Wulfekuhler 7.74.
Steph Klar finished the 800 meters in 2:44.7, while Angie Pearson ran it in 2:50.8, Kalya Gutz in 3:04.5 and Steph Stanley in 3:07.5.
Toni Khounlo leaped 14-9 in the long jump. Havens finished the 55 meter hurdles in 9.64 seconds and Rachel Gouldin in 10.81 seconds.
Morae Youde ran the 55 meters in 8.15 seconds, Sherae Lalone in 8.45 and Jessica Jorgensen in 8.61.
The 4x200 relay team of Youde, Jorgensen, Lalone and Katie Kruse finished in 2:06.9.
The Storm Lake boys and girls teams will host a quadrangular meet this Friday at Tornado Stadium, weather permitting.
