Driver points gun out a car window, police ask help to catch suspect

The Storm Lake Police Department is investigating a report for a subject who brandished a handgun outside of a car window on Friday afternoon.

Shortly after 3:30 p.m. Friday, police responded to a report that the driver of a vehicle displayed a handgun by pointing it out of the driver's window and aiming it toward the tree tops.

The vehicle, described as a dark red or maroon Pontiac Grand Prix occupied by two Hispanic males, was observed traveling northbound on Geneseo Street at West 6th Street when the incident occurred. After displaying the handgun, the subject pulled the weapon back inside the window and continued driving northbound.

The weapon was described as a black semi-automatic pistol.

The driver of the vehicle appeared to be in his mid-twenties to mid-thirties and was wearing a green stocking cap pulled down over his ears.

He was wearing a light colored coat with a white collar. There was no description on the passenger.
