All eyes were on former Iowa Hawkeye basketball star Jess Settles during a high school youth rally at Bethel Baptist Church in Newell Sunday night.
Settles, who stepped into the starting lineup for the Hawkeyes from 1993-1997, is now in the inspiration game, writing and speaking to children and adults. His sports career speaks for itself - Settles still ranks in the Top 10 in more career statistical categories than any other player in Hawkeye history and was named team MVP three times. Settles is an Academic All-American and the three-time winner of the prestigious Chris Street Award.
The message that Settles brings to youth around the state is that by "positioning, preparation and a personal relationship" with Jesus Christ, everyone is capable of success.
