The Storm Lake Area Development Corporation has put its list of director candidates on hold, as talks continue toward the possibility of a new partnership with the Storm Lake Chamber of Commerce.
The executive boards of both groups will meet together later this week to discuss the possibility of restructuring their organizations together, according to Steve Brashears, SLADC board president.
"We have had a lot of conversation with the chamber people, and we are looking into a lot of different possibilities. At the same time, we have visited with communities of a size similar to Storm Lake that have gone through this, and taken advantage of the chance to pick their brains about what works," Brashears said.
One of SLADC's chief concerns is to avoid jeopardizing its city and county funding sources, so the group must be certain that the Storm Lake City Council and Buena Vista County Board of Supervisors support any change that would be considered, he said.
