New Year's child fulfills woman's promise to her father
Oscar Anguiano has earned the title of "First Baby of 2006."
The son of Nancy Anguiano made his entrance into the world Jan. 2 at 10:41 p.m. at Buena Vista County Hospital, tipping the scales at 7 pounds, 8 oz. and measuring 22 inches.
Dr. Wulfekuhler set her due date as Dec. 31 and little Oscar made it clear he was ready. With some labor pains early on that day, Nancy went to the hospital but was sent home. The labor became more intense and she returned. Oscar was eventually delivered by emergency C-section.
Selecting a name wasn't difficult. "He is named after my dad who died 15 years ago. I promised him before he died that I would name my first son after him," said the first-time mom.
Her wishes for Oscar are that he "grows up healthy and strong and makes the right decisions in life."
