HOLSTEIN - AGH wrestlers Brad Gustafson and Daniel Borchers each went 5-0 in matches here Saturday at the Pirate Duals, leading the team to a second place finish.
Rockwell City-Lytton / Southern Cal won the six-team meet by going 5-0 in duals during the tournament. AGH went 4-1, with its only defeat a 45-28 loss to RCL-SC.
Alta took fourth place with a 2-3 record. Sioux City West took third with a 2-3 mark but beat Alta in head-to-head competition.
AGH opened its dual meet competition Saturday with a 50-26 win over Sioux City West. They followed with a 52-28 rout of Sheldon, then beat Alta 60-15.
AGH defeated Council Bluffs Lewis Central's JV team 69-12 before losing the tournament title match to RCL-SC.
Gustafson went 5-0 on the day, winning the individual title at 119 pounds. At 189 pounds, AGH's Daniel Borchers also went undeafeted in five matches.
Others finishing 4-1 and winning their weight divisions for AGH were Adam Parker at 112 pounds, Mike White at 135 pounds, and Chris Mikos at 140 pounds.
"The competition was very good Saturday, with a lot of good wrestlers and close matches," AGH co-coach Scott Phelps said.
"We were happy with the effort of our kids, but we still have areas to work on," he added. "We are, however, heading in the right direction as the first half of our season comes to an end."

The AGH wrestlers are off until Thursday, Jan. 5, when they travel to Sloan for a double dual vs. Woodbury Central and Westwood.
The Pirates next home match is the Aurelia Invitational Jan. 7.
