MANSON - The A-GH wrestling team edged Fort Dodge St. Edmond by three points here Saturday for first place in the ten-team Manson Northwest Webster Tournament.
The Pirates won with 172 points to 169.5 for Fort Dodge St. Edmond. Ogden was third with 143 points, while South Hamilton (134) and Manson NW Webster (111) followed.
The Pirates finished with champions at four weights, including Adam Parker at 112, Bradley Gustafson at 119, Chris Mikos at 140 and Daniel Borchers at 189. Mikos notched the 100th win of his career during the tournament.
Alta was sixth with 85 points, while Schaller-Crestland took eighth with 44 points.
AGH co-coach Scott Phelps was pleased with his team's performance, adding that 11 of the 13 AGH wrestlers that competed placed in the top five.
"The coaches were happy with the effort and the performance of the kids in their first competition of the year," Phelps said.
"With many young, untested wrestlers in our lineup we still made many mistakes and have a long way to go, but we are headed in the right direction."
For Schaller-Crestand, four wrestlers placed in the top six.
According to coach Matt Tate, 103-pounder Ronnie Huseman, 140-pounder Nathan Frank and Brance Frehse all went 0-2 in the tournament.
Brett Pryor at 125 and Zach Stephens at 171 both lost in the pigtails, knocking them out of the tournament.
Schaller-Crestland 189-pounder Garrett Barlow placed in the top six. He opened the tourney with a win over a St. Edmond wrestler.
Top-seeded Michael Weber took fourth by going 2-2, defeating wrestlers from WLVA and South Hamilton but losing matches to wrestlers from Alta and Ogden.
Mark McDonough took second by defeating Mike White from A-GH. He lost in the championship 5-4 to state-ranked Orlando Peace from St. Edmonds.
Jeremy Robley also took second place. During his run to the finals, he beat Austin Todd of AGH and Jeremy Mogler from Manson NW Webster. Robley lost in the championship to a wrestler from Fort Doge St. Edmonds.
This week, the Wildcats compete Thursday against Graettinger and Pomeroy-Palmer in a double dual in Graettinger. Saturday, they are at the Maple Valley-Anthon-Oto Tournament in Mapleton.
AGH, meanwhile, is at Ida Grove Thursday in a Maple Valley Conference double dual with Battle Creek-Ida-Grove and MVAO.

103 - Ryan Donahoo (AGH) pinned Rex Rodenborn (St. Ed) in :35 for fifth place.
112 - Adam Parker (AGH) pinned Jimmy Cathi (S. Hamilton) at 3:54 to take first place.
119 - Bradley Gustafson pinned Caleb Jens (Ogden) in :35 to take first.
125 - Nick Felten (AGH) went 0-2 and didn't place
130 - Kyle Yearous (AGH) lost to Elliot Huff (S. Hamilton), 5-2 to place second.
135 - Mike White (AGH) pinned Justin Neubauer (Ogden) art 3:44 to take third place.
140 - Chris Mikos (AGH) dec. Mychael Mueller (MNW), 7-2 for first place
145 - Andrew Perry (AGH) was pinned by Justin Grossnickle (MNW) in 4:19 to place fourth.
152 - Bryce Dean (AGH) lost to Joey Kelm (Alta) 7-0 to place second.
1560 - Austin Todd (AGH) lost to Alex Parker (MVAO), 7-0 to lace fourth.
171 - Josh Lyon (AGH) dec. Jeff Kalmer (MNW), 12-8 to place third
189 - Daniel Borchers (AGH) pinned Joe Herrig (WLVA) in :53 to place first
215 - Sean Hurst (AGH) went 0-1 and didn't place.
