The Buena Vista County 4-H Youth Council will sponsor its annual 4-H Basketball Festival on Sunday, March 25, in the Newell-Fonda High School gyms. Doors open for registration at 12:30 p.m., with games beginning at 1 p.m.
Boys and girls teams consisting of about 80 4-H junior boys, 4-H junior girls, 4-H intermediate boys and 4-H intermediate girls from across the county were formed as well as two coed senior teams. The festival will begin with the junior division, followed by the intermediates and concluding with the seniors. All games will be officiated by volunteer parents.
The County Youth Council members planned and organized the festival as a way for 4-H'ers to make new friends from across the county. The Fairfield Clovertroopers and Fairfield Goalsetters 4-H clubs are also helping with the tournament. The CYC, Clovertroopers and Goalsetters will have concessions available during the day as a fundraiser for the County Youth Council.
"This is a great way for 4-H'ers from the communities in our county to meet each other and for families to spend an afternoon together," said Jan Lietz, Buena Vista County 4-H and Youth Program assistant. "Thank you to all the adult volunteers, parents, leaders and youth for all of their help!"
