BV softball team blanks College of New Jersey

OSCEOLA, Fla. - Erin Quass fired a five-hit shutout, walked none and struck out 10 to help send Buena Vista to a 2-0 victory over the College of New Jersey Tuesday in the Rebel Games in Osceola, Fla.

Buena Vista lost its second game of the day 4-2 to Hope College.

The Beavers had six hits in their win, including two apiece by Laura Lunders and Kelly Deabler. Lunders drove in two runs with a pair of doubles. Erica Demers had a double and Molly Schuler a single.

Buena Vista had eight hits against Hope. Katie Richardson went 3-for-3 with two singles and a double. Demers had a single and a double, while Schuler added two singles. Jeni Rydberg also singled.

Traci Kragel suffered the loss, allowing four hits and striking out three. Quass relieved and allowed two hits and struck out two.

A balk in the bottom of the 10th inning gave Wisconsin-Eau Claire a 3-2 victory over Buena Vista in the Rebel Games on Monday in Osceola, Fla.

The game, played in rainy conditions, was a scoreless tie through seven innings. Buena Vista scored a run in the eighth only to have Eau Claire answer. The Beavers went up 2-1 in the ninth, but the Blugolds scored again to tie it.
