Steve Mummert, Storm Lake, has been named to a five-year contract as the new promoter for the Worthington Speedway in Worthington, Minn.
Mummert is the former promoter of Buena Vista Speedway, serving there from 1993-97.
The Noble County Fair Board announced the appointment this week. Mummert, along with race director Sean Enfield of Worthington, will run four classes of cars on the high-banked quarter-mile track: non-sanctioned modifieds, stock cars and sportsman/bombers, and IMCA sanctioned hobby stocks.
A 20-race season is scheduled to begin in the first week of May, and a modified pickup truck pull will be held to close the season in September.
Racing will be held every Sunday night with hot laps at 6:15 and racing at 7 p.m.
Anyone interested in rules, schedules or payouts at the track may contact Mummert at 732-8180 days or 732-5510 (evenings).
