The Alta school district is following board policy after an elementary student allegedly brought a knife to school on Monday.
After hearing rumors of the student bringing the knife to school a locker search was conducted and the knife recovered.
Superintendent Fred Maharry said the district is very concerned with the safety of the students and will proceed to follow the board policy in dealing with what happened.
Maharry said he understands some students may bring pocket knives to school once in a while. In this instance the knife was longer than that of a pocket knife.
There were no injuries to be reported as the situation was brought under control and is being dealt with at this time.
