Local ISU student selected for VEISHEA

Tuesday, March 13, 2001

Iowa State University student Tara Joy was selected as a committee member for VEISHEA 2001.

Joy is a senior majoring in psychology and serves as the executive secretary assistant on the executive secretary committee. She is the daughter of Kirk and Tamie Gaes of Storm Lake.

VEISHEA is the largest student-run celebration of entertainment and education in the nation and the second largest in the world. Since its beginnings in the spring of 1922, the celebration has become one of Iowa State's most cherished traditions and is a showcase of excellence. With the new VEISHEA village, exciting entertainment events, a taste of VEISHEA and a variety of family and community events, it will be a weekend of entertainment for the whole family.

"VEISHEA allows us to show people our best and gets the whole university involved," said Joy.

Joy will be responsible for assisting with proof reading letters, developing an office manual and staffing the VEISHEA office during VEISHEA weekend. Joy served as the open house secretary for VEISHEA 1999.

VEISHEA will be held April 20-22 on the Iowa State University campus in Ames.
