The Storm Lake School Board is applying for a 21st Century Grant to continue the middle school's after-school program and to add another one at the high school.
The grant, which was written by assistant superintendent Larry Parman, is requesting just under $290,000.
"It's very similar to the two grants we've received at the elementaries and middle school for the after-school programs," said Superintendent Dr. Bill Kruse. The high school program would be more intensely focused on academic assistance.
"Again it's to provide opportunities for enrichment for high school students and middle school students," Kruse said.
The grant would not only extend the middle school program, but would also expand it. The grant funding the Tornado Learning Club expires this year.
