September 17, from 10 a.m. until noon, Dr. M. Nasr, M.D., a specialist in internal medicine and cardiology, will speak on the impact of nutrition on health. He is a member of several organizations who present or keep abreast of cutting-edge, nutrition-focused, medical knowledge which he will be sharing.
Nasr's appearance is sponsored by the the Northwest Iowa Shaklee Association, a health and wellness focused group.
Nasr has a bachelor's of science in agronomy, a master's of science in biochemistry of anti-oxidants, and a Ph. D. in pharmacognosy (science of bioactive products). He received his medical degree from Rush Medical College in Chicago, followed by internal medicine and cardiology fellowships from Chicago Medical School. He is a member of the American College of Nutraceuticals and the American College of Preventive Medicine and is director of the Medical Care and Diagnostic Center, Lake Villa, Ill.
As a doctor trained in nutrition, with 25 years of clinical experience, Nasr will focus on the role of the essential fatty acids, especially omega 3 and omega 6, in preventing and treating cardiovascular diseases and auto-immune diseases. Some of the specific issues will include cardiac arrhythmia, blood pressure, cholesterol, rheumatoid arthritis, Chron's disease, depression, macular degeneration, and more.
Dr. Nasr will speak from 10 until 11:30 a.m. followed by a question-answer session at the Western Iowa Technical College (WIT), at 200 Victory Drive in Cherokee, Iowa.
