Playing relaxed, and with setter Priscilla Otto back from an injury, the Aurelia volleyball team swept Ruthven-Ayrshire here Thursday night, 26-16, 25-16, and 25-18,
"The girls came out fighting tonight," Bulldog coach Kim Conover said. "They were relaxed and played very good volleyball."
At the net, Aurelia was led by junior Kristine Munden, Jana Radke, and Amy Hirschman. Radke finished with 14 attacks and seven kills with no errors, adding seven blocks. Hirschman added seven blocks.
"We were strong at the net defensively," Conover said.
Liz Laursen was 21 of 22 in serving with seven ace serves. Four of her five hits were kills.
Conover added that Jenny Bowen was solid in serving, serve reception, and digging in the back row.
"She is fun to watch and leaves you wondering how she got to the ball and managed to keep it alive," the coach said.
Conover said Kayla Ballantyne played well in the back row and that Christa Corderman added ten set assists on 35 sets.
"We need to keep working on staying loose and talking," she said. "All in all, we played very well."
