Prosecutors say a South Dakota man charged in a fatal hit-and-run boating accident at Okoboji will turn himself in back in Iowa.
Justin Allen Nearman, 29, of Sioux Falls, was driving a boat that struck and killed Michael Brosnahan, 51, of Perry, and was intoxicated, officials with the Iowa DNR said.
Nearman was arrested Tuesday. If convicted, he could face up to 30 years in prison. He appeared in Sioux Falls court Wednesday afternoon. A judge scheduled an extradition hearing for Sept. 19.
Nearman's attorney said he is expected to post the $42,500 bail and would probably then turn himself in to authorities in Iowa.
