Despite strong rumors in recent weeks of a possible Wal-Mart Supercenter, a company official said there is no plan as yet for a new Storm Lake store, although the company's real estate people may well be evaluating the territory.
"At present there are no plans for a supercenter, though that's not to say that couldn't change down the road," said John Bisio, manager for community affairs in the upper Midwest for Wal-Mart.
Rumors throughout Storm Lake suggested the possibility of a Super Wal-Mart including a grocery locating at the Sale Barn Corner at the north edge of the city. The property's owners said Wal-Mart contacted them a few years ago about the site, but have not heard any word in recent weeks.
