Genesis Development work activity center is the recipient of a very generous gift of $369,000 from the estate of Viola Nia of Jefferson.
Nia was a consistent supporter of Genesis over the years and her previous gifts have been helpful in enhancing the lives of people with disabilities through the various programs offered by Genesis.
The board of directors of Genesis have created the Viola Nia Fund which will be used as an endowment to continue to fund various needs of the corporation such as development, capital expenses and debt reduction.
Genesis Development is a private, not-for-profit corporation, which provides opportunities and supports for people with disabilities in western Iowa. Genesis currently has facilities on North Lake Avenue in Storm Lake, as well as in Boone, Jefferson, Panora and Winterset. Services have been provided in many other communities in Buena Vista, Greene, Guthrie, Audubon, Shelby, Carroll, Calhoun, Pocahontas, Boone, Madison and Dallas counties, including supported community employment programs.
