UNI academic honors for SL natives

The University of Northern Iowa Department of Military Science has cited the academic accomplishment of 20 of its Army ROTC Cadets for the fall 2000 semester. Included on the list were Christopher L. Cornish and graduate student Ryan G. Hartwig, both of Storm Lake. Cornish and Hartwig were commended for achieving a fall 2000 semester GPA of 3.0 or above in all course work and a perfect 4.0 in all military science classes, according to Lt. Colonel Michael DePuglio, UNI head and professor of military science.

ACT workshop to be held for students

Community Education, Arrowhead Area Education Agency and Iowa Central Community College are offering an ACT workshop on Friday, March 23 from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Storm Lake High School. All area high school students are invited to attend. Students will be given tools to reduce the level of fear of this test. The workshop fee is $15 and registration is due by Wednesday, March 14. The registration sheets are available in your high school guidance office.

SL natives named to KU Dean's List

More than 4,000 students from the University of Kansas in Lawrence were named to the Kansas University honor roll during the fall 2000 semester. Local students include Mary A. Schultes, a sophomore journalism major and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Schultes of Storm Lake and Jason Michael Plagman, a freshman liberal arts and sciences major and son of Rod and Charlene Plagman of Storm Lake.
