Like a World Series without the Yankees, it will hardly be an "official" State Tournament season this year without the perennial powerhouses of Newell-Fonda in action.
The last local team alive, the defending state champion Mustang boys, bowed out in substate Saturday 68-61. The game was a hard-fought rematch of the 1A State Championship game of a year ago. Check the Sports page for more of the story.
