The Storm Lake High School wrestling team attended the 2005 Luther College Team Wrestling Camp held here July 6-9.
Over 300 high school athletes from five states attended the camp that was directed by Luther head wrestling coach Dave Mitchell. Clinicianss at the camp included University of Iowa assistant coach and two-time NCAA champion Tim Hartung, University of Minnesota All-American and four-time Iowa high school state champion Mack Reiter, and the Luther College coaching staff.
Campers participated in team building activities, intensive "Train Like a Norseman" sessions, technique sessions and live wrestling sessions.
The camp closed with an individual tournament on Saturday morning.
Tony Bedel was named individual tournament champion, and Daniel Higgins and Patrick Higgins earned "Wrestler of the Day" titles.
A current Luther wrestler served as Storm Lake's "Camp Coach" and provided wrestlers with verbal and written feedback.
Students competing for Storm Lake High School included Jared Brashears, Kelly Evans, Wes Gregg, Patrick Higgins, Daniel Higgins, Ryan Lovstad, Tony Pertzborn, Cole Raglen, Ben Seaman, Logan White and Peter Winterton.
Luther wrestling has experienced great success in recent years, placing third at the NCAA Division III Championships the past two years.
