Scavenger Hunt at Prairie Pedlar
On Saturday, July 23 the Prairie Pedlar is celebrating a fun-filled day at the garden with their annual Garden Festival. Beginning at 11 a.m. there's something for everyone.
Throughout the day, visitors can enjoy a scavenger hunt throughout the garden. Search high and low for unique fairy houses that have been constructed from nature and discreetly hidden among the flowers and herbs. Experienced members of the Green Team will share what they've learned on Wednesday mornings by instructing craft workshops that are simple enough for children to complete, yet so charming that adults can't resist them either. You can take home your very own wire bubble wand or hand-twisted willow wreath. Additional workshops by Jane Martin of Rockwell City will include stain glass tiles and cement birdbaths with imprints.
Owner, Jack Hogue, will lead a guided garden walk at 11 a.m. or 3 p.m., sharing folklore and plant legends. Guest speaker Amy Peyton and her mother, Sue, will present a program on the Sac county Barn Quilt Project. In addition, Jana Todd wills speak on the Elements of Garden Design. There will also be garden craft demonstrations throughout the day and Maypole dancers will perform.
The one-day Garden Gala is free to the public. Lunch concessions are available. For information, call 712-668-4840.
