Iowa Games summer festival nears

Online registration is now open for the Iowa Games "Summer Games" events in Ames.

While an Iowa Games regional is no longer held in Storm Lake, local athletes are still involved. There were people from Buena Vista County in the Games in 2004.

The entry deadline for many of the sports that remain open will be July 5 online.

Entry form booklets are available at Casey's General Stores, Drug Town, Hy-Vee Food Stores, U.S. Bank, Park and Recreation Departments. Subway restaurants.

Olympic gold medal wrestler Rulon Gardner will kick off the Iowa Games Torch Run on July 15 at the downtown U.S. Bank in Des Moines. The Olympic style torch run will begin in downtown Des Moines and make it's way through the central Iowa country side to Ames. The Torch Run is free for runners to participate.

3D Archer, Archery, Badminton, Baseball, Basket-ball, Basketball- 3 on 3, Bowling, Canoe/Kayak, Cross Country Race, Cycling, Disc Golf, Equestrian, Fencing, Golf-Adult, Juniors and 4 Person BS, Horseshoes, Judo, Mountain Biking, Racquetball, Road Race, Rowing, Shooting, Soccer - Youth, Softball - Youth, Swimming - Masters and Youth, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis - Adult and Youth, Track & Field, Triathlon, Volksride, Volkswalk, Volleyball, Water Skiing, Weightlifting, Wrestling.
